Manas wildlife sanctuary is a national park situated in Assam India. This park is the only place in Assam for the Tiger reserve and also famous for the rare species of panda and monkey (red Panda and golden langur). This is one of the best- kept national park in India. The completely vicinity of park falls under five different districts including Darranga, Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa, Kokarjhar. This park is covering an area of 39,100 hectares which is spans to the Manas river and bounded to the north by the forests of Bhutan. Manas wildlife sanctuary or UNESCO world heritage site's includes a range of forested hill ,tropical evergreen forest and greenery grassland. Also the park is a treasure trove of a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Animals and birds in Manas national park-
The national park's incredible biodiversity includes more then 550 species included in 55 species of mammals, 450 species of birds, 50 species of reptiles,and some other species of amphibians. And Approximately 1000 different species of plants can also be observed here. The key attractions of Manas wildlife sanctuary is tiger, leopard, red pandas,One- horned rhinocerosGolden Langur, panther, water buffalo ect.
Things to do in Manas-
To make the excursion more exhilarating and memorable Forest officials are arranges many things to do like Jeep Safari it's start on morning 9.30 AM. to 3.30 PM., Elephant Safari, River Rafting ect.
Where to stay in Manas-
While staying inside the park is prohibited,there are some best places to stay in the vicinity.
1. Musa jungle retreat-
If you're looking for a luxurious place to stay then this is the best option for you inside the park with AC rooms and other accommodations. Cost: 4500/night,to villas going up to rupees 12500/- per night.
2. Smiling Tusker Elephant Lodge-
This is one of the best lodge located inside the national park they have provided cozy and cottage, delicious food and drink. Rooms are non-AC but attached with toilet. Within the cost-3900/ night.
How to reach-
You can reach Manas either by toad or by air or train from any nearby destination. But there are no direct train or flight to reach the gates of national park. The location falls on the national highway-31 with well connected roads to the major cities around Assam. Gawhati airport is nearest airport of Manas it's situated at approximately 150 kilometres distance from the national park gate. By train it's around 50 kilometres from Barpeta railway station. As well by road you can start your travel by bus or cab from Gawhati, Barpeta, Jorhat these are the shortest distance cities to reach Manas.
