Dong is a small village in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh where India receives first rays of the sun. At 1,240 meters above from the sea level, Dong is situated in the left bank of Lohit River which is a tributary of Brahmaputra and sati, and this is the easternmost village in India. This village is located between China and Myanmar.The village is now connected by a iron floored foot suspension bridge over the river Lohit.
The place was discovered in the year 1999. The majestic beauty of this place is really amazing to explore and discover. On an average, the sun rises at around 4.26 A.M and sets at around 5.00 P.M. In winter season, almost an hour before other places in the country witness the same. Only to see the first sunrise from behind the mountains visitors are comes to this village and covering an 8 kilometer trek. To visit other places in Dong is Namti plains war memorial, walong war memorial, Tilam.The best time to visit the Dong valley is between the months April and July. You can hope to explore the best possible sight- seeing places during this time of the year.
