MEGHALAYA THE ABODE OF CLOUDS

Meghalaya enfolded amidst wraith-like mists, is aptly called the abode of the clouds. This is one of the most beautiful state in northeast part of India. Meghalaya has gifted with incredible natural beauty which is attract tourists around the years. Bounded by wonderful mountains and hills this place is located at the height from where one can have a serene view of various locations. Meghalaya tourism is focused on developing infrastructures tourist spots and nature. Considered as one of the wettest regions in India 70% parts of the state is covered by dense forest, beautiful valleys, waterfalls majestics hills and mountains. Definitely We can call this place is "Heaven on Earth". Those who are nature lovers they can include these places on their travel bucket list.

Laitlum Canyon-

Like the Grand canyon of the United States of America which is  one of the most beautiful and famous place in the world, the Laitlum Canyon of Indian states Meghalaya has its own charm. It is located at 25 Kilometres from the capital Shillong. The Laitlum Canyon lies on the Jowai- Shillong route and this place is famous for the deepest gorges and hills under the complete blanket of green trees.

Garo Hills-

Garo hills is situated close to the Indo-Bangladesh border in swaddled area which is ended across the Indo- Myanmar border is home to the Balpakharm National park, Nokrek Biosphere Reserve, Siju wildlife Sanctuary. Garo hills offer to there tourists magnificent viewpoints, deepest and subtropical forests and some rare endemic species of birds and animals. The hills are also surrounded with waterfalls, which is enriching the environmental coherence of the places.

Living Root Bridges-

The living root bridge is a natural created bridge in Meghalaya. In the East of this bridge is khasi and west is jaintia hills. To reach both places you'll have a trek quite a bit. This living root bridge is grow from the roots of rubber tree.

Umiam Lake-

Umiam lake is a artificial water reservior which is formed by the damming of the Umami river.This place is serves as one of the popular tourist attraction for Shillong. The place is lies on Guwahati- Shillong highway and 18 km outside from the capital city Shillong. This water reservior is covering a vast area of 10 sq. Kilometer the larger lake has rightly been termed as Barapani by the localities. Apart from that this lake is a source of power generation, fishing and irrigation, portable water ect.

Elephant Waterfall-

The elephant waterfalls  are the amongest the most popular falls in the North- East  situated in 10 kilometres from the capital city Shillong. This is a two tiered cascading waterfall.

Dawki River-

The river is situated in Dwaki town of Meghalaya. This town is the third most visited place in Meghalaya after cherrapunjee and the capital city Shillong. Which is located at Indo- Bangladesh border area. It is famous for campaigns and boat rides.

Mawlynnong Village-

This village is holds the record of the cleanest village in Asia. It is situated in the East Khasi Hill district. It is like a Paradise on earth. Every house in this village is follows a strictly environment cleanliness  protocol even you can spot the bamboo dustbin in front of the every single house. In this village plastic polythene and smoking are completely banned by the villagers.
