The Dehing-Patkai national park is situated in the districts of Dibrughar and Tinsukia in Assam. This is besically a wet evergreen tropical forest kind of place in Assam. A huge part of tropical rainforest situated on south bank of the river Bramhaputra that is known as Amazon of the East.The forest is stretching more over more then 575 square kilometres area. This forest was declared as Sanctuary on the date 13 June 2004. This National park is also belongs to the Dehing-Patkai elephant reserve.
The rich rainforest is home of more then 40 species of mammals and reptiles, more then 35 species of fishes, 300 above species of birds, around 60 rarest and major species of trees and more then 101 orchids, more then 300 species of birds and 155 species of butterflies.


clouded leopard, golden cat, sambar etc. In birds there are Black baze, Khaleej pheasant, lesser adjutant, while wings duck, hill myna, King fisher eta. In reptiles rock python, king cobra, Asian leaf turtle , monster lizard etc.
This region also has a rich cultural heritage. There is a large number of ethnic tribal people are living in this area. Mattacks, Tai phakes, wanchos, sema nagas are important tribal communities of this area. So this wildlife sanctuary is a perfect place to attract tourists on it's own.
